I know I just sent an update, but so far this month has been rather entertaining…
Our March…in like a lion? Lamb? Nope, try bunny. For those of you not on facebook, this was my March 1st posting: “Did I not learn anything from the chicken soup/Roman soldier free swim? I was helping Nathan with school stuff this morning while Caden was getting dressed by himself. Not a good idea. He came running out of his room stark naked with a wipe wadded up into a ball stuck in between his bum cheeks saying, “I look like a bunny!” He indeed did.
Nathan also makes us laugh. The other day Caden was annoyed with Nathan being in his face. After a few moments of listening to them argue, more specifically Caden whine, Darin ordered Nathan to say to Caden, “I will not encroach in your space.” It came out, “I will not cockroach in your space.” Pretty sure Caden appreciated that sentiment as well. I know I would.
Nathan had an oral book report this week. The assignment required he read a biography then give a speech pretending to be the character, complete with costume and props. He chose Alexander the Great. (Thank goodness it wasn’t the Easter Bunny…he might have used Caden’s costume suggestion.) He wore a toga, sandals, and a ring of ivy on his head (no olive branches available). He was pretty nervous about it, but was ecstatic when he got home. He said his teacher (who has been teaching for many, many years) told him it was the best report she had seen in all her years teaching. Kudos goes to Darin for helping him organize his research and made him not only practice, but video his practices so he could see what improvements needed to be made. Now Nathan not only knows how much work it takes to do well, but also the accomplishment from a job well done. Hope this lesson sticks!
